The past January 21st, works began on adapting the headquarters of Universidad de las Hespérides, In Gran Canaria, a traditional island architecture building located on Calle de los Balcones, right in the heart of the historic Vegueta neighborhood of the island's capital.
It is an iconic building, very close to the House of Columbus, the Cathedral of Saint Anne, the City Hall and the Superior Court of Justice, in the city's founding zone, on which works are being carried out with high sensitivity towards the property and its surroundings.
The works at the headquarters, whose completion is expected after the summer, will combine cutting-edge technology and Canarian architectural values on a surface of approximately 1,000 square meters.
The integral rehabilitation of the building is being carried out with adaptation of the spaces to the needs of the University, but in any case respecting the historic character of the building, its typology and all its protected elements. The works have been commissioned to architects at Estudio Crea, Sabi Reyes Ortega and M. Teresa Castellano Bello, while everything related to the structure is handled by Huca Arquitectura.
