The Universidad de las Hespérides will have laptops, webcams, and headphones with microphones available for at least 5% of enrolled students at the beginning of each academic year.

Students who meet the following requirements will be eligible to apply for the semester loan of these resources in order to adequately follow the academic activities.

To have a full or partial scholarship granted by the Universidad de las Hespérides to pursue their studies (these scholarships can be awarded for financial need, academic excellence, or both reasons. However, the vast majority will be for financial need).

– Be enrolled in at least 24 credits in the semester in which the loan of resources is granted.

In the event of more requests than available resources, the allocation formula will be as follows:

• Total points = Scholarship points + points for enrolled credits + academic record points.
• Points for a complete scholarship: 100.
• Partial scholarship points: equal to the percentage of the scholarship. For example, a 35% scholarship, 35.
• Credits per enrolled credits: 1 point for every credit enrolled. Minimum 24 points.
• Points based on academic record: Equal to the average grade.

An student with a 70% scholarship who enrolls for 30 credits and has an average grade of 8.5 points will have 108.5 points.

A list of students will be created based on the points obtained, and resources will be provided until they are exhausted, following the order of that list.

In addition, the Universidad de las Hespérides will provide internet access to enrolled students who meet the following requirements and request it:

1.     Have a full scholarship granted by the Universidad de las Hespérides to pursue their studies.
2.     Be enrolled in at least 24 credits during the semester for which the resource loan is granted.

Each semester, the loan of resources and internet assistance will be reviewed. If a student fails to meet the established conditions or criteria, they will lose the right to the loan and must return the borrowed resources. Similarly, they will be obligated to return the borrowed resources if they complete their studies or withdraw from the University.

The university will reserve at least 5 percent of the available spots in official Master's degree programs for students with a recognized disability of 33 percent or greater, as well as for students with permanent educational support needs associated with personal circumstances of disability, who, in their previous studies, required resources and support for their full educational inclusion.

Candidates with special needs are assisted by the Admissions Office. The assessment of specific educational needs, such as curricular adaptations or alternative study pathways, as well as specific guidelines for faculty action, will be carried out by the diversity support unit in coordination with the director and coordinator of this program.

The virtual education model of the Universidad de las Hespérides is considered the most inclusive educational modality for people with special needs. Thanks to technological advancements, the impact of inequality of opportunities resulting from special needs is significantly reduced in the virtual space. Additionally, the variety of active and collaborative learning methodologies for which we are training our teachers and have prepared our LMS greatly aids in the inclusion of students. This support of our model for inclusive education is even more crucial in a region with natural barriers that make it difficult for people with disabilities to travel for educational purposes.

The Universidad de las Hespérides will make available to students in need the protocol for acting with students who have special needs. This protocol includes the following actions:

• Support in the admission process.
• Support in the registration process.
• Interview with the student to determine the necessary support to ensure their access and learning process.
• Support for interaction with other students.
• Notification of special educational needs to the program director.
• Notification of special educational needs to the student's teaching staff who will require this support.
• Student follow-up and support.

The Diversity Support Unit will be responsible for providing access to studies and university activities for all students on equal terms, thus making the university inclusive. To achieve this, this unit offers a specialized support and advisory service for students with special educational needs. Personalized assistance based on the specific needs of each student in any aspect of university life: adaptations of study materials, technical aids, exams and academic activities, special library services, study adjustments, human support for note-taking, etc.

In addition, the Universidad de las Hespérides will coordinate its actions with CERMI, IMSERSO, ONCE, and ICASS and will provide students in need with a resource bank.
